The Royal Marines booked the final place in this years semis and a date with Premier division leaders Buckland Athletic after beating fellow East Division side 2-1 this afternoon at Endurance Park. Richard Hope fired the Marines into the lead before Matt Wonnacott with a superb free kick levelled the scores moments before half time. The winning goal came through Dan Boere after 63 minutes and also assured the home side of the award for best performance by an East side in this years competition.

Premier Division :

League leaders Buckland Athletic restored their 7 point gap at the top of the table but were made to work hard for it by visiting Liskeard Athletic who gave the home side a real fright before losing out 0-1. Falmouth Town had a straight forward 5-0 win away at lowly Dartmouth to move back level on points with Bodmin Town who had a Friday night win. One team making progress in the leading pack are Tavistock who recorded their 2nd win of the week with a 3-0 success at home to Ivybridge which was enough for them to climb above Torpoint and into 4th spot. Plymouth Parkway leap-frogged their opponents today, St Blazey, into the top 6 as they came from behind to beat the Green & Blacks 2-1 at Bolitho Park. Another side leap-frogging their opponents today were Saltash United who jumped above Witheridge after a 4-0 win at Edge Down Park. At the foot of the table matters are looking bleak for Holsworthy after they lost 2-1 away at Elburton Villa this afternoon whilst Wadebridge Town had a good 4-0 win over Cullompton Rangers that leaves the Magpies now some 7 points adrfift of Liskeard. Launceston eased any worries they may have had with a superb second half performance. At half time they trailled Bovey Tracey by 2 goals to nil but six of the best in the second period gave the Clarets a 6-2 win.

Elsewhere Totnes & Dartington climbed two places to 8th with a 2-0 win at home to bottom side Bickleigh and the University of Exeter moved up one place to 11th with a 4-0 win at home to Axminster Town. Two sides gained surprising but welcome away wins with Okehampton Argyle winning 3-2 away at an Appledore side who were perhaps a bit hung-over from their midweek cup success after they had beaten Exmouth Town, something that may have rubbed off on them as well as Newton Abbot Spurs enjoyed a 4-2 win away at Southern Road. One game ended all square as Ottery St Mary and Crediton United shared the spoils from a goalless draw at Washbrook Meadow.

Division 1 West :

St Austell are back on top of the table after a 2-0 win away at bottom club Mousehole was enough to give the Lillywhites the lead of the table on goal difference from Newquay who had no match today. Sunday 7th March

Bickleigh created several "firsts" today after they won 3-2 away at Appledore. This was the first ever Peninsula League fixture, in any division, to be played on a Sunday and they not only won it 3-2 but in Kieran Rapo they also had a first hat-trick not only on a Sunday but in Bickleigh colours since joining last summer. It was also Bickleighs first win of 2010 as they last won some 14 games ago stretching back to last September. Hosts Appledore did however contribute to an enjoyable afternoon as an above avergage crowd of around 80 saw the North Devon side reply twice through Sam Stephens and Shaun Copp.

Saturday 6th March

Falmouth Town pulled level on points with Bodmin after they had a 5-0 away win on their first ever visit to Bovey Tracey. In fact it was a day for 5-0 away wins as St Blazey won by that margin away at bottom club Holsworthy and Plymouth Parkway also won 5-0 in their away game at lowly Cullompton Rangers. Both Liskeard and Elburton were thrown back into relegation danger after the table was adjusted to take account of Clyst Rovers withdrawal but both sides eased any fears by recording wins today. Liskeard had a 2-1 away success at Launceston whilst Wadebridge Town had a narrow 1-0 home win over visiting Elburton Villa. Elsewhere Tavistock stay in 7th spot despite a good 4-1 win at home to Penzance and two mid-table sides, Saltash United and Ivybridge Town, shared the spoils following a 2-2 draw at Kimberley Stadium, the Ashes 3rd draw on the trot.

Division 1 West :

With various cup commitments there were just 5 West division games this afternoon but the matches played did include 3 of the top 4 being in action with the undoubted match of the day seeing St Austell cement their 2nd place in the table with a 2-1 win away at 4th placed Perranporth. Leaders Newquay followed up their midweek win over Vospers with a comfortable 5-0 win away at Millbrook to retain top slot. Elsewhere it was a case of home rule as Callington beat visiting Penryn Athletic 4-1 on their own Marshfield Park, Dobwalls were in action on their own Lantoom Park pitch and they beat visitors Porthleven 2-0 and in a rapidly re-arranged match Vospers Oak Villa beat Truro City 3-0 on their own Weston Mill turf.

Danny Williams in particular boosted his goal tally with 4 of his sides goals.

Saturday 27th February

The wet weather caused many postponement today and this included the final quarter final tie at the Royal Marines who were due to have played Alphington. This tie has been re-arranged for 14 days time, 13th March.

Cornwall Senior Cup :

The three remaining ties in the Senior Cup quarter finals were all played today although only two ties were actually resolved. Camelford and Godolphin Atlantic drew 3-3 and will now have to replay next Saturday at Godolphin to decide who will face Illogan in the semi finals. Holders St Austell are out of the cup after losing 0-1 away at Penryn Athletic, the home club gaining revenge for a recent Charity Cup defeat to the lillywhites. Penryn will face Bodmin Town in their semi final after the Priory park club saw off Launceston by a 2-0 margin in the days other tie.

Premier Division :

A programme of eight top flight matches was again decimated by the wet weather with just 1 game surviving. That was at Blaise Park where hosts St Blazey drew 1-1 with visitors Elburton Villa. Its been a good week for the visitors after they won away at Launceston in midweek and they climb to 11th in the table. St Blazey moved up a place to 3rd above Falmouth Town on goal difference.

Division 1 East :

All seven Division 1 East fixtures were postponed by the weather meaning the only action in this division came care of Newton Abbot Spurs Friday night win, Spurs will not only collecting 3 points but getting their game played thanks to the switch to Friday night.

Division 1 West :

Three of the five league games were played as, not for the first time this season, the West Division was not so affected by the weather. Hayle in 3rd were the highest placed team in action but they fell to a surprising 1-2 home defeat against fast improving Dobwalls. Perranporth remain in 4th but trimmed the gap on Hayle from 4 points down to a single one by virtue of a 4-1 win at home to Porthleven today. Friday 26th February

Wednesday 24th February

Throgmorton Cup :

On a night of late drama two of tonights three Cup ties needed extra time with one of them requiring penalties to sort out the winners. Bodmin Town who are the Cup holders were made to fight hard to beat East side Liverton United by a 1-0 margin at Priory Park with the only goal of the game coming in the first period of extra time through Luke Hodge. Bodmin had played a large part of the tie with 10 men after Mark Berry was sent off. At Langsford Park neither hosts Tavistock or visitors Plymouth Parkway could find a goal in 2 hours of play with the tie decided on penalty kicks with the Lambs going through 5-4 after Johnny Morris missed from the spot. Parkway also finished with 10 men after Kirk Smith was red carded. Buckland Athletic had a more comfortable passage through as they beat Exmouth Town of Division 1 East by a 4-0 scoreline at Southern Road. Gavin Hammon scored twice with Liam Drew and Darren Vicary also on target and the hosts ending the game a man light after Scott Bellamy was sent off late in the game. The final quarter final is on Saturday as the Royal Marines host Alphington with a 200 pound prize for Best East performance in this years competition also to be decided at Endurance Park.

Tuesday 23rd February

Premier Division :

Elburton Villa ended a run of 11 games stretching back to the 3rd October without a league victory to grab all 3 points from a 1-0 win away at Launceston tonight in the only game in the area to survive the wet weather. Credit to the Pennygillam groundstaff for getting the game on when even professional clubs in the region had to call off today, but they were unrewarded as Ross Saint scored the all important goal for the visiting Villa side.

Saturday 20th February

Cornwall Senior Cup :

St Blazey crashed out of the Cornwall Senior Cup at the quarter-final stage today to Combination league side Illogan by a shock 1-3 margin at Blaise Park. In what was the only tie played the Premier Division hosts were humbled by a side from two steps below them in the pyramid. The other 3 quarter finals were all postponed meaning they will try again next Saturday and this has led to 4 matches in the league, 2 in Premier and 2 in West, being postponed.

Premier Division :

Rather oddly the league programme was largely unaffected by the weather with 17 out of 18 league games being played as arranged. The one league game to fall involved the league leaders Buckland Athletic who had their trip to Holsworthy postponed. At the start of the day the highest placed side in league action were 4th placed Torpoint Athleticbut they found their recent good run ended with a 3-2 defeat away at Plymouth Parkway with the Bolitho Park hosts closing the gap on the leaders although reamining in 8th spot. Penzance were 5th going into todays game but they were held to a goalless draw at Penlee Park by visiting Saltash United and with 6th placed Tavistock losing away it was Falmouth Town who made the best progress today with a 2-1 win over Tavistock that lifts the Bickland park outfit 4 places and into 3rd spot. The only other winner in the top half of the table were 10th placed Witheridge who beat Dartmouth 3-2 at Edge Down Park but do not actually move from their previous league position. Two sides eased their relegation fears with important wins as Wadebridge Town ran out 4-1 winners at bottom side Clyst Rovers and Liskeard Athletic leap-frogged their opponents today, Cullompton Rangers, with a 2-1 win over the mid-Devon side at Lux Park. Bovey Tracey ended a run of 6 straight defeats with a 2-2 draw at home to Ivybridge Town but ended the game with just 9 men after Liam McAuley and Lee Griffin were both sent off.

Division 1 East :

With some sides expecting to be on Premier Cup duty their was a reduced programme of 6 matches in the East Division today but that didn't stop Stoke Gabriel from extending their lead at the top of the table to 4 points. Stoke had a narrow but important 1-0 home win over 6th placed Totnes & Dartington to take full advantage of 2nd placed Galmpton Gents being held to a goalless draw away at the bottom club Bickleigh. This shock result ended a run of 12 straight defeats for the divisions newest side and also earnt the Happy Meadow club their very first point at home in a league game since joining last August. Liverton United moved up a place to 3rd after running out comfortable 6-0 winners at home to an Ottery St Mary side who slip back into the bottom 2 after Okehampton Argyle achieved a 2-1 away win at Alphington this afternoon to pull 5 points clear of the bottom position. Elsewhere Axminster Town climbed one place to 12th with a 4-1 home win over Teignmouth at Sector Lane where the visitors ended with 10 men after Nick Hayman was sent off and the University of Exeter leap-frogged todays opponents, Crediton United, in the table by winning 2-1 at home over Kyrton.

Division 1 West :

Again with County Cups due to feature today the programme of games was down to just 4 matches in the West Division and of the sides who were in action Newquay and hayle had the most to be pleased about. The Peppermints had a big 8-1 win at home to bottom side Mousehole to draw level on points with leaders St Austell whilst Hayle had a more conservative 2-0 win at home to Callington Town it was enough for the Trevassack Park club to move to within a single point of the top of the table. There were two other winners this afternoon with Porthleven climbing a place to 7th after a 4-1 win at home to a Millbrook side who this week announced they are quitting the league and Vospers Oak Villa moved up one place to 10th after they had a 3-2 win at home to visiting Foxhole Stars.

Wednesday 17th February

Cornwall Charity Cup :

The Semi final line up in the Cornwall Charity Cup was completed tonight with St Austell booking the final place after winning 3-1 away at fellow West side Penryn Athletic. The two sides were playing the 2nd of 3 matches against each other in 8 days after last Saturdays 2-2 league draw at Poltair and ahead of Saturdays Senior Cup tie back at Kernick Road.

Tuesday 16th February

Premier Division :

Saltash United bounced back from recent defeats to gain a 3-2 win at home to Wadebridge Town tonight with a brace from Sam Hughes and a solitary effort from Marc Thorne. Wadebridge replied with goals from Paul Grills and Simon Poole. The "Ashes" climb two places to 11th on the back of their first win in six matches.

Cornwall Charity  Cup :

Newquay had to come from behind to beat Camelford 5-2 in their Charity Cup quarter final at Mount Wise tonight, the Peppermints join Perranwell and Dobwalls safely through to the last 4 with one more quarter final due to be played on Wednesday night.

Monday 15th February

Devon St Lukes Bowl :

Plymouth Parkway exitted the Devon St Lukes Bowl after they lost 0-6 away at Torquay United. In a tie that was switched to Plainmoor the "Gulls" fielded an experienced team of squad players and with a hat-trick from Mustafa Caryol they ran out comfortable winners to earn a quarter final trip to Bideford. Parkway won't dwell too much on this match as it comes 48 hours after a 9-0 league win over Holsworthy and 48 hours before a home league game on Wednesday night againt Clyst Rovers.

Saturday 13th February

Premier Division :

The top two pulled away from the chasing pack this afternoon as they both won whilst some of the other challengers faltered. Buckland Athletic had a 4-1 win at home to Ivybridge Town to remain 2 points clear of 2nd placed Bodmin Town who went on a second half goal feast as they won 8-2 at Elburton Villa with 5 of the goals coming after the break. Tavistock who started the day in 3rd were beaten 2-1 at home by a Torpoint Athletic side who remain in the race themselves in 5th spot. Penzance remain in 4th place but were held to a 1-1 draw at home by a Witheridge side who were paying their first ever visit to Penlee Park. St Blazey recovered from recent defeats to get back to winning ways with a 5-1 success away at Bovey Tracey whilst Falmouth Town had a more modest 1-0 win at home to Saltash United. Plymouth Parkway set a new highest home win of the season as they thrashed Holsworthy 9-0 at Bolitho Park. Holsworthy slip into the bottom 2 along with Clyst Rovers who lost 0-3 at home to Liskeard Athletic this afternoon with Andy Bowker netting twice for the visitors who pull away from the danger zone with the win. Also pulling clear are Wadebridge Town who had a tight 3-2 win at home to visiting Dartmouth today.

Division 1 East :

A feisty affair sums up the 1-1 draw between two high flying sides from South Devon who met in a top of the table clash today. Liverton United and Stoke Gabriel managed to play some football to secure a 1-1 draw inbetween a local derby that saw four red cards as the hosts ended with 8 players after Ben Gerring, Dan Harrity and Dan Broadway were all sent off whilst visitors Stoke Gabriel ended with 10 after Owain Williams was dismissed. It must have been a day for bad tempered derbies as Ottery St Mary ended with just 9 players as they had 2 sent off including player boss Jason Rees, in a 1-3 home defeat to local rivals Budleigh Salterton. Galmpton Gents closed the gap at the top of the table to 2 points with an 8-1 thrashing of Axminster Town and Appledore bounced back from last weeks defeat with another high scoring result as they beat visiting Crediton United 7-3 at Marshford. The Royal Marines moved up a place to 3rd after a 4-0 win at home to Okehampton Argyle that included two goals for Shea Saunders. Alphington remain in 5th after they recorded a hard fought 3-2 win away at Newton Abbot Spurs but Totnes & Dartington remain in 6th by the slender margin of goal difference after they lost 2-1 away at Exeter Civil Service. Exmouth Town had a less dramatic 3-0 home win over bottom side Bickleigh and also winning at home were Teignmouth who had a 2-0 success over the University of Exeter.

Division 1 West :

League leaders St Austell and in form Penryn Athletic met at Poltair today and both sides kept their unbeaten runs going as the two sides drew 2-2. Hayle who were in 2nd spot failed to take advantage of the dropped points though as they lost 0-1 at home to Porthleven and slip to 3rd in the table. The big winners today were Newquay who had a narrow 3-2 win at Mount Wise over visitors Camelford but with other results going their way they ended the day 2 places higher in 2nd spot. The only other winners today were Plymstock United who had a 3-1 win at home to Millbrook in a Tamar valley derby. Both the bottom 2 sides picked up a point each from draws with bottom side Mousehole picking up a 1-1 draw away at Callington Town and it was also a 1-1 score for Truro City Reserves who hosted Vospers Oak Villa at Treyew Road.

Cornwall Charity Cup :

The first two quarter finals in the Charity Cup were played today with Dobwalls booking a semi final place in fine style as they won 4-1 away at Perranporth. Perranwell of the Combination League are also through to the last 4 after they had a narrow 1-0 win at home to West Division side Godolphin Atlantic.

Wednesday 10th February

Premier Division :

Bodmin Town are now back to being just two points behind league leaders Buckland after a professional display saw the Priory Park club beat St Blazey 3-0 tonight. Mark Berry opened the scoring from a free kick just before the interval and then 2nd half goals from Sam Matthews and Chris Luxton sealed the win. St Blazey barely threatened the home defence and suffered their 2nd 0-3 defeatof the week.

Tuesday 9th February

Premier Division :

Plymouth Parkway continued their good league form with a 3-1 success over the Tamar bridge at Saltash United this evening in front of a 200 plus crowd. Whilst they remain in 9th spot the visitors have dropped only the same number of points as league leaders Buckland Athletic, albeit having played 4 games less. Saltash in fact drop a place to 13th after they were overtaken this evening by Dartmouth who followed up last Saturdays win at Bovey Tracey with a 5-2 home success tonight over visiting Cullompton Rangers.

Devon St Lukes Bowl :

Ivybridge Town booked a quarter final meeting with Exeter City in the Devon Bowl after the Ivy's won 3-1 away at fellow league side Tavistock whilst in North Devon, Exeter City were beating Western League side Ilfracombe Town 4-1. The Ivy's are due to have home advantage but that is unlikely to transpire as the game must be midweek and whether the tie is played on a neutral venue or at St James Park will be decided in the next few days.

Saturday 6th February

Premier Division :

Buckland Athletic pulled out a 5 point lead at the top of the table as they grabbed a late winner, and other results fell kindly, for the Homers Heath club. After Saltash United had agreed to switch the fixture they also took the lead but the South Devon club pulled it around with two late goals to end up 2-1 winners. Bodmin Town were thwarted by the weather as their match at Witheridge was postponed as was the Elburton Villa versus Cullompton Rangers match. St Blazey had started the day in 3rd but they were well beaten, 0-3 at home to a Penzance side who climbed 2 places to 4th. Tavistock climbed a place above St Blazey and into 3rd after the lambs won 3-0 away at Liskeard Athletic with Adam Carter netting twice and the other game involving the leading sides saw Torpoint Athletic and Falmouth Town cancel each other out for a 2-2 draw that didn't really suit either teams hopes. Further down the table Plymouth Parkway remain in 9th despite a 3-0 win away at bottom side Clyst Rovers. Dartmouth won a local South Devon derby with a 2-1 result at Bovey Tracey that enabled the Darts to leap-frog their hosts in the table and the only other winners were Launceston who had a 3-1 home win over Holsworthy. Wadebridge Town remain in the relegation zone despite a respectable 1-1 draw away at Ivybridge Town.

Division 1 East :

The top four in the Eastern table all played and all chalked up wins to leave the top part of the league table pretty much unchanged. Stoke Gabriel remain top and 4 points clear of the field after a 3-1 win away at Axminster Town with Galmpton Gents still in 2nd spot after they notched a useful 3-2 win away at 5th placed Alphington. Liverton United in 3rd also had an away win as they gained maximum points from a 4-1 result at Ottery St Mary. Royal Marines in 4th were the only one of the leading pack to have home advantage today and they made that work for them with a staggering 8-3 win over Teignmouth that included a hat-trick from Dan Boere. In the bottom half of the table there was some movement especially for Newton Abbot Spurs who climbed 4 places to 10th after a 2-1 away win at Appledore. The North Devon hosts were playing their first home league match for 112 days, stretching back to the 17th October, but home comforts did them no good ! Also climbing were Budleigh Salterton who moved up 3 places to 12th after two first half goals gave the Robins a 2-0 win at home to the University of Exeter. In the bottom of the table clash at Happy Meadow, Okehampton Argyle climbed off the foot of the table with a 2-1 win over a Bickleigh side who now occupy the final position themselves, a Steve Kinsey penalty on the stroke of half time proving to be the winner.  Two matches were postponed as Crediton United versus Exmouth Town and the game between Totnes & Dartington and Exeter Civil Service were both called off this morning due to waterlogged pitches.

Division 1 West :

The league table in the Western section was barely altered today despite the fact that all 16 clubs were in action and a full programme of results were posted. The entire top 6 in the division all recorded wins to leave the order and points differences between them unchanged. St Austell remain top as they won 4-1 away at a Camelford side who were playing their first home league game since October 10th, some 119 days ago ! Hayle remain in 2nd spot after a hard fought 2-1 win over visiting Plymstock United whilst 3rd placed Perranporth had a much more comfortable 5-0 win at bottom side Mousehole. Newquay are still in 4th spot and they had a 4-2 home win over Truro City Reserves today with near neighbours Godolphin Atlantic still in 5th after a 3-0 away win at Vospers Oak Villa. Completing the top six winners were Penryn Athletic who notched a 2-0 home win this afternoon over visitors Callington Town. The only two sides to move up in the table were Dobwalls who jumped from 10th to 7th on the back of a 2-1 win away at Porthleven and lower down the table Foxhole Stars won for the 3rd game running as they beat Millbrook 3-2 at Goverseth Park and the 3 points were enough to lift them one place to 14th.

Tuesday 2nd February

Premier Division :

For the 2nd match running Saltash United were held to a draw at home as Elburton Villa drew 1-1 at Kimberley Stadium in tonights only league fixture. The Ashes took a first half lead but Villa substitute Ross Saint levelled in the second half. Both sides league positions remain unchanged by this result.

Saturday 30th January

Premier Division :

Buckland Athletic retained top spot after a 3-0 home win over visiting Wadebridge Town this afternoon which keeps them 2 points clear of Bodmin Town who had a comfortable 5-0 away win at lowly Liskeard Athletic today. Torpoint Athletic who started the day in 3rd were the only one of the top 5 to drop points as they were held to a 3-3 draw away at near neighbours Saltash United. St Blazey moved into 3rd with a 2-1 away win at Elburton Villa and also climbing above Torpoint and into 4th were Tavistock who also had a 2-1 away win, in their case at Ivybridge Town. Both of the two most Westerley clubs had wins and climbed a place today as Penzance moved into the top 6 after a 3-0 home win over Cullompton Rangers at Penlee Park and Falmouth Town are now 7th after they won 2-0 away at Launceston. It was generally a good day for sides playing away in this division and following that theme were both Plymouth Parkway who won 5-1 away at Bovey Tracey to climb to 9th and also Witheridge who are now 10th after a 4-0 win away at Dartmouth. We almost managed a full programme of fixtures this week but one game, Holsworthy versus Clyst Rovers, was called off by the matchday referee at Upcott Field.

Division 1 East :

The top three in this division all had in common Premier Cup defeats last weekend and all three bounced back today with league wins to leave the top 3 positions unchanged. Stoke Gabriel remain top after a tight 2-1 win at home to a Crediton United fresh from a midweek win, Galmpton Gents remain in 2nd spot although they were given a fright by lowly Bickleigh before the South Devon hosts notched a 1-0 victory and Liverton United remain in 3rd after a 4-2 away win at the University of Exeter. Totnes & Dartington were the only side in the top 6 to drop points as they fell from 4th to 6th after drawing 2-2 at home to lowly Ottery St Mary. Taking full advantage were the East Devon pair of the Royal Marines and Alphington who both won and climbed a place with the Marines now 4th after a 4-2 away win at Axminster Town which featured a winner from Dan Boere. Alphington are upto 5th after another awy win, in their case 4-0 at Teignmouth. An Adam Copp penalty was enough for Appledore to leap-frog over Exeter Civil Service and into 7th spot as the North Devon side won 1-0 at Civil and also winning 1-0 away from home were Budleigh Salterton who gained their win at Newton Abbot Spurs in a game that saw both sides end with 10 men. Okehampton Argyle remain bottom of the division after they slipped to a 0-2 reverse at Simmons Park today against visiting Exmouth Town.

Division 1 West :

St Austell extended their lead at the top of the table to 3 points today as they notched a 4-0 win at home to Vospers Oak Villa to take full advantage of the stalemate between 2nd and 4th placed Newquay and Perranporth. After an impeccable minutes silence in memory of the Peppermints chairman Graham Drew both sides cancelled each other out for a 1-1 draw at Mount Wise. Hayle also took full advantage as they climbed into 2nd spot with a more than useful 2-1 win at 5th placed Godolphin Atlantic. Penryn Athletic climbed two places and into the top 6 as they continued their recent good run with a 4-0 win at home to Millbrook. Plymstock United relinquished 6th after being held to a 2-2 draw at home by visitors Porthleven. Three of thisd mornings bottom 6 including two of the bottom four all gained vital wins with Dobwalls thrashing bottom club Mousehole 7-0 at Lantoom Park, Callington Town had a good 5-1 home win over visiting Camelford and Foxhole Stars completed a quick double after beating Truro City 1-0 today, just a week after winning 3-1 at Truro in a re-arranged game last weekend.

Wednesday 27th January

Premier Division :

Saltash United played one of their many games in hand in the league tonight and took full advantage by winning 3-1 away at Holsworthy to climb a place to 12th. Paul Chuwen fired the Ashes into the lead but the Magpies drew level through Alan Clark. A penalty just before half time scored by Sam Hughes restored the visitors lead with the win being sealed by Jamie Densham 10 minutes from time.

Division 1 East :

Newton Abbot Spurs finally turned on their new floodlights tonight although not until 45 minutes after the advertised kick off times following the discovery that the fuses for the lights had mysteriously been removed ! When the action did get underway Spurs missed an early opportunity to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty by visiting keeper Lee Waring saved Jamie Dysons spot kick. Crediton took the lead through Phil Greenslade after 33 minutes but Spurs were level before the break when Jamie Mills scored from another penalty kick award. Wayne Baker restored the visitors lead midway through the 2nd half but again Spurs drew level thanks to Joe Andrews but Crediton were not to be denied as they sealed a 3-2 win when Greenslade netted his 2nd goal of the night.

Tuesday 26th January

Devon St Lukes Bowl :

The first round of the Devon Bowl was finally completed tonight, nearly 2 months behind schedule ! In an all Peninsula League tie Cullompton Rangers beat Clyst Rovers 3-0 at Speeds Meadow to set up a 2nd round tie away at Western League Premier outfit Barnstaple Town.

Saturday 23rd January

FA Vase 4th Round :

The leagues interest in this years FA Vase was ended today inside the M25 as Chertsey Town of the Combined Counties Premier Division, step 5, showed their class with a 6-0 win over Plymouth Parkway. Whilst its dissappointing to go out the Bolitho Park club can take great credit from this extended run in the national competition which has also earnt them as seeding through next years qualifying rounds.

Devon Premier Cup Quarter Finals :

27 goals were scored in the 4 quarter final matches of which 3 had to be settled in Extra time. The most dramatic was at Endurance Park where the Royal Marines met fellow East side Liverton United. The Marines were 4 goals up and cruising but a late rally saw Liverton pull level at 4-4 to force extra time. The added 30 minutes saw the Commondos squueze through 6-5 which included a 4 goal haul from Simon Bochenski. The other all East Division affair was the only tie settled inside the regulation 90 minutes as Appledore beat Galmpton Gents 4-1 at Marshford with Shaun Copp scoring twice. Honours were even between Division 1 East and West with Plymstock United winning 5-2 away at Stoke Gabriel after extra time. Joe Jasper was the U's hero as he netted a hat trick. At Weston Mill, Exmouth Town of East won 3-1 after extra time at West side Vospers Oak Villa in a game that saw both sides end with 10 men.

Cornwall Senior Cup 3rd Round :

Seven of the last eight sides in the Senior Cup are from the South West Peninsula League after todays ties were all resolved. Four West sides are safely through including holders St Austell who claimed a Premier division scalp as they won 2-1 away at Liskeard Athletic. Penryn Athletic beat a St Dennis side who had beaten Peninsula opposition in the last round but the Kernick side made no mistake as they won 4-1 today. Two all West Division ties were both decided by the only goal of the game as Godolphin Atlantic beat Millbrook 1-0 at home and Camelford won 1-0 away at Hayle. Three Premier Division sides are through with Bodmin Town winning 3-0 away at lower league St Day and they are joined by St Blazey who won 1-0 away at West Division side Perranporth and also by Launceston who had a 2-1 away win at another West side in Porthleven. Whilst it was generall a good day for our clubs there are always exceptions and that is true of Saltash United of the Premier Division who were knocked out 1-0 on their own turf by lower league side Illogan.

Premier Division :

With many sides on Cup duty there was a reduced league programme in all 3 divisions but the Top flight still managed six fixtures played. Buckland Athletic had a 3-1 win at home to Penzance that was enough to send the Homers Heath club to the Top of the table and 2 points above Bodmin Town. A trio of sides in the chasing pack all had wins today with Tavistock winning 2-1 away at bottom side Clyst Rovers in a re-arranged match, Ivybridge Town had a narrow 1-0 win at home to Cullompton Rangers and Falmouth Town had a 3-0 away success at Holsworthy. Witheridge climbed 2 places and into the Top 10 with a 4-2 win at home to Bovey Tracey and one game ended all square as Dartmouth and Elburton Villa was a 1-1 draw at Longcross.

Division 1 East :

The wet weather in East Devon saw the matches at Bickleigh, Crediton and Exeter University all postponed leaving just 3 matches played. Newton Abbot Spurs had a late winner as they won 3-2 at Axminster Town to end a long run of defeats and there was also an away win for Alphington who climbed back into the top 6 after winning 4-1 at Ottery St Mary. One game ended in a draw with Totnes & Dartington taking the lead only for Budleigh Salterton to level and seal a 1-1 draw in their game at Foxhole.

Division 1 West :

Although only two matches were played in the Western section they accounted for 4 of the bottom 5 sides being on duty. Mousehole remain bottom of the pile after losing 5-0 at home to a Dobwalls side who moved up one place to 11th. Foxhole Stars gained only their 2nd win of the season as they won 3-1 at Truro City and although they remian 15th they now have a 5 point cushion from the wooden-spoon position.

Wednesday 20th January

Devon St Lukes Bowl :

Dartmouth were well beaten in their Devon St Lukes bowl clash as they lost 0-6 at home to high flying Western Premier outfit Bideford at Longcross in the only game completed tonight. The top of the table league clash between Bodmin Town and St Blazey did start but was abandoned after 28 minutes due to thick fog and will have to be re-staged later in the season.

Tuesday 19th January

Devon St Lukes Bowl :

Buckland Athletic bowed out of the Devon st Lukes Bowl at the 2nd round stage after they lost 1-3 at home to a young Plymouth Argyle team at Homers Heath. Argyle's team included three professionals with striker Steve Mclean the biggest "name" on show and took a 2 goal interval lead with strikes just before the break. Buckland reduced the arrears midway through the 2nd half through Mike Turner but any thoughts of forcing extra time ended 15 minutes from time when the visitors restored their 2 goal lead. Tonights other matches were both postponed with Plymouth Parkway v Torquay United in the Bowl being called off in the morning whilst Saltash United saw their game at home to Elburton Villa postponed just moments before the scheduled kick off time.

Saturday 16th January

Premier Division :

It would be pushing it a bit to say that the league got back into the swing of playing as only 4 top flight games were completed, but at least we had some football this week after having gone 14 days without a ball being kicked in anger. The total of games would have been five except the Tavistock v Liskeard Athletic match was abandoned at half time with the home side leading 3-1 after a partial floodlight failure. This mornings Top Two both played and both fell to defeats with leaders Bodmin Town going down 0-2 away at a Torpoint Athletic side who themselves climb to 3rd spot. St Blazey slip from 2nd to 4th after losing 2-3 at home to Buckland Athletic at Blaise Park. Danny Gaze scored twice for the South Devon side who moved up to 2nd and within a point of the league leaders. Elsewhere Falmouth Town recorded a 2-0 win at home to Dartmouth and also winning at home were Ivybridge Town who beat lowly Holsworthy 3-0 with all the goals coming in the first half.

Division 1 East :

Five of the scheduled nine games were played in the Eastern section today with four of the top six playing and all four winning. Stoke Gabriel came from behind to win 4-2 at Newton Abbot Spurs where Glenn Palmer hit two of his sides goals following his transfer from Saltash United. Galmpton Gents were made to fight hard for the points away at lowly Ottery St Mary before eventually winning 4-3. Liverton United had a much more comfortable win as they beat Bickleigh 5-0 at Halford. Completing the quartet were Totnes & Dartington who had a good 3-1 win away at Alphington. The only side out of the Top 6 to pick up any points were the University of Exeter who had a 4-2 away win at Exmouth Town which helped them climb 2 places to 12th in the table.

Division 1 West :

Five out of Seven games in the Western section were played which was enough for this division to pass the landmark of having completed 50% of the divisions programme of fixtures. One side who were without a game though were Perranporth and that allowed St Austell to re-take pole position with a 2-0 win at home to Hayle thanks to goals from Mike Body and debutant Dan Nancarrow. This was a re-arranged fixture as it was one of those that had originally been abandoned during a particulary stormy afternoon back in late November. Newquay remain in 4th spot despite a 2-0 away win at Dobwalls and the only other winners were Penryn Athletic who underlined their recent improvement in form by beating lowly Mousehole by aseasons high 9-0 margin at Kernick. Two matches ended in draws as Millbrook and Godolphin Atlantic shared the points after a 2-2 draw at Mill Park and it was also 2-2 at Weston Mill as hosts Vospers Oak Villa drew with visitors Camelford.

Saturday 2nd January

Premier Division :

The New Year started in the same fashion as the old year had ended, with the weather taking a huge chunk out of the fixtures and with the Premier Division by far the worst affected. Of todays nine scheduled matches just one was played and therefore credit to Bovey Tracey for getting their game on against Torpoint Athletic, not that it did them much good as they slipped to a 1-3 defeat. Bovey remain in 11th spot whilst Torpoint climed one place to 5th in the table.

Division 1 East :

Four of the seven games were played in the Eastern section with a huge contrast in fortunes occuring. Spectators at Galmpton Gents watched a tense local derby that ended in a 0-0 draw to leave neither side any better or worse off than before but at Happy Meadow the divisions newest side, Bickleigh, served up an incredible 5-8 scoreline ! The visitors were Ottery St Mary who climbed off the foot of the table with the win but the real storyline is how a goal was scored more than once every 7 minutes, especially as before the match neither side had a particularly impressive strike rate, the Otters having scored just 17 in 15 matches at kick off ! Two second half goals gave Stoke Gabriel a 2-0 win at home to Budleigh Salterton and also extended the South Devon sides lead of the table to 4 points. Reigning Champions Exeter Civil Service had their seasons best attendance at Foxhayes and all looked good as they led 2-0 at the interval but visiting Axminster Town had other ideas and scored 4 times after the break to win 4-2.

Division 1 West :

The West Division again fared better when it came to getting games played as 6 of the 8 matches were completed although one side who were thwarted were Hayle who lost top spot in the table as other sides took advantage of their postponement at Camelford. Perranporth are the new leaders despite being made to work hard for a 1-0 home win against bottom side Mousehole. St Austell are back into 2nd spot, albeit on goal difference, after they won 2-1 away at previously in form Godolphin Atlantic. At Mount Wise neither home side Newquay, or visitors Plymstock United, made much upward progress as the two sides drew with each other 1-1. In the bottom half of the table three sides chalked up welcome wins with Penryn Athletic continuing their recent improved form with a 2-1 success at Porthleven whilst Millbrook had a narrow but vital 1-0 win away at Vospers Oak Villa and Dobwalls came from behind to win 4-2 away at Foxhole Stars.

Monday 28th December

Throgmorton Cup 3rd Round :

The remaining six 3rd Round Throgmorton Cup ties were all completed today with four of the six winners coming from Division 1 East who, it must be said, had a tremendous day which will raise the profile of this division. Perhaps the most stunning result was Exmouth Town who won 3-1 away at last seasons beaten finalists, Ivybridge Town. Andrew Jones, Adam Turner and Ben Shephard all on target for the visitors with the Ivy's replying through Scott Rennie. Challenging that result were the Royal Marines who also won away at Premier Division opposition as they won 2-1 at Saltash United. The Commandos had Stuart Morgan and Simon Bochenski on target with the Ashes ending the game with 10 men and scoring only a last minute consolation through Jamie Densham. Completing the hat-trick of giant kills were Liverton United who beat Holsworthy 3-0 at Halford with 2 goals for Stuart Bowker and 1 from Richard Farkins, the visiting Magpies ending the game with 10 men after Ben Johnstone was sent off late on. The 4th East Division side through were Alphington who beat fellow East side Crediton United 2-1 in a morning kick off watched by 122 at the Chronicles with Kenny Smith scoring twice before Dave Lee reduced the arrears late on for a Kyrton side who also had a late sending off when Scott Telford got his marching orders. The last Division 1 West side in action were Hayle and they bowed out of the cup with a 3-1 defeat at holders Bodmin Town despite a good showing. Hayle along with Camelford will share the reward for being the Best Division 1 West clubs in this seasons competition. In the only all Premier clash Tavistock came from behind to win 4-1 away at Penzance in a tie that required extra time to determine the winners. Ross Pope had given the Magpies the lead but 2 goals from Paul Adcock and one each from Lee Blatchford and Shane Krac gave the visitors the place in the last 8 with todays 6 winners joining Buckland Athletic and Plymouth Parkway who had already played their ties before Christmas. The Quarter Final draw was made at Liverton United with holders Bodmin Town being drawn at home to East side Liverton United, Exmouth Town of East have home advantage as they face Premier side Buckland Athletic, there is an all Premier clash at Langsford Park with Tavistock playing host to Plymouth Parkway and an all East affair at Endurance Park where one side is assured of a place in the last 4 as the Royal Marines host Alphington.

Saturday 26th December

Premier Division :

The cold spell of weather continues to cause fixture misery as half of the Boxing Day programme in the top division was postponed with games off at Cullompton, Elburton Villa, Holsworthy, Ivybridge and Launceston. Of the five games that were played leaders Bodmin Town extended the gap at the top of the table to 2 points as they won 3-0 away at Wadebridge Town by a 3 0 margin as Chris Luxton hit a hat-trick in front of an attendance of 307 at Bodieve Park. St Blazey retain 2nd spot in the table despite being held to a 2-2 draw at home to Torpoint Athletic but Buckland Athletic climbed a place to 3rd after they were 6-2 winners at home to Bovey Tracey in a South Devon Derby at Homers Heath. Also climbing a place were Penzance who moved up to 4th after beating Falmouth Town 3-2 at Penlee Park in the West Cornwall derby. Saltash United got back to winning ways with a comfortable 4-0 win at home to Liskeard Athletic in the afternoon match at Kimberley Stadium with the Ashes moving up 1 place to 13th.

Division 1 East :

Just three matches survived the big freeze in the Eastern section with postponements at Appledore, Axminster, Crediton, Exeter Civil Service and Totnes. The big South Devon Derby between Galmpton Gents and Stoke Gabriel did go ahead however with Stoke claiming bragging rights with a 4-1 away win that was just the 2nd defeat of the season suffered by Galmpton. Stoke moved up from 4th spot to take the lead of the table after this result. In another South Devon local clash Liverton United won 4-1 away at Newton Abbot Spurs and moved up 3 places from 8th to 5th. A good crowd was reported at Greenway Lane as Budleigh Salterton staged the only game in East Devon and they got their reqward for getting the game on with a 3-1 win over local rivals Exmouth Town.

Division 1 West :

The West section was completly unaffected by the cold weather with all 7 scheduled games being completed today. The Big Newquay derby between the Mount Wise hosts and Godolphin Atlantic saw honours even from a 1-1 draw in front of the best attendance in the entire league so far this season, 565 watching the draw. St Austell took full advantage of results elsewhere to get back into the leading pack after they ran out comfortable 6-0 winners of the Clay Country Derby against Foxhole Stars. Vospers Oak Villa won the bragging rights from the only all Devon fixture in the West division as they won 1-0 at Plymstock United and it was also 1-0 at Millbrook as they home side collected 3 much needed and creditable points after beating Camelford. Penryn Athletic continued their recent improvement in form with a 5-1 away win at Truro City with two other afternoon matches ending in draws as bottom side Mousehole collected a good point from a 2-2 draw at Porthleven and at Lantoom Park Dobwalls took the lead through Stuart Dunn but visiting Callington earnt a 1-1 draw when Dennis Mason levelled.

Saturday 19th December

Premier Division :

Just one game in the top flight survived the freezing conditions this afternoon and that was at Longcross where Dartmouths efforts to get the game on against Wadebridge Town were rewarded with a 3-2 win that lifts them 3 places in the table to 13th. Luke Brown gave the home side the lead with the only goal of the first half and Simon Lewcock had doubled the lead before Josh Insley struck for the visitors. Phil Hardee restored the Darts 2 goal cushion only for Glen Squires to score a late consolation for the visitors.

Division 1 East :

The Royal Marines are the new leaders of the Eastern section after they beat Budleigh Salterton 2-0 today at Endurance Park and in doing so they jumped ahead of 4 inactive sides above them. Providing the fire power with second half goals were Simon Bochenski and Martin Finneron. In the only other game played Liverton United came from behind to beat Teignmouth 3-2 at Halford. Robbie Bowker had given the home side a 2nd minute lead but Ian Wilkinson fired the visitors level before the break and then Adam Fay gave the Teigns the lead but two late goals from substitute Stefan Chubb turned it all around for the hosts.

Division 1 West :

Half of the West Division programme of games survived the weather today including all the matches involving the top 3. Perranporth who had started the day Top were knocked off the summit though as they lost 0-3 away at Godolphin Atlantic, this was the first league defeat for the newest members of the division since September. Godolphin not only earnt a very good win but they also climbed three places to 3rd in the table. The new leaders are Hayle who were 2nd this morning and faced a very tricky trip to 3rd placed Newquay but a 3-1 away win ensures that Gary Marks' charges will spend Christmas Day on top of the pile. Truro City climbed a place to 10th with a narrow 1-0 win away at Plymstock United and Penryn Athletic "leap-frogged" their visitors today, Dobwalls, by beating them 2-0 at Kernick to move above them and into 12th spot.

Wednesday 16th December

Premier Division :

Saltash United and Penzance played out a 1-1 draw at Kimberley Stadium tonight as the Ashes caught up with one of their games in hand on the other teams in the division. Richard Rundle carried on from his league debut hat-trick last Saturday by giving the Magpies a 23rd minute lead but the Ashes drew level 3 minutes after the break through a Paul Madden penalty. Penzance remain in 5th spot but Saltash climb 2 places to 13th in the table.

Tuesday 15th December

Throgmorton Cup :

Three league cup ties were played tonight with the last of the 2nd Round games completed and two of the eight 3rd Round games settled. Crediton United won through away at Premier Division side Cullompton Rangers in the much delayed 2nd round match which went on for a bit longer again thanks to extra time being needed. Roger Bonaparte had given Cully the lead but Matt Trenaman levelled from the penalty spot and in extra time Steve Goss hit a 30 yard winner to set up a 3rd round trip to fellow East side Alphington. Buckland Athletic cruised through their 3rd round tie at Launceston with a 5-0 win as Mike Turner and Gavin Hammon scored before the interval and in the 2nd half more games followed as Anthony Lynch, John Rimmer and Carl Roles all netted. Joining Buckland in the la
